Cigarette Pants were like the skinny jeans of their day. They were smoking hot in the fifites, when Marilyn and other glamorous stars wore them. The differences between modern-day skinny pants and cigarette pants are that the cigarette pants are higher-waisted and typically ankle length, whereas modern skinny jeans are often low-rise and very tight at the ankles and have excess length, creating a bunched-up effect at the ankle. What makes these new Black Cigarette Pants fantastic are that they have the sexy, curvy, snug fit of contemporary skinny pants but with the high waist of retro pants (in other words, avoid low-waist muffin top). Many darling details to mention. The matching beaded flower brooch is detachable. The slip underneath is a soft black rayon with spaghetti straps. The slip is not sewn onto the dress so you can wear other slips underneath if you want to change it up for a different look.
Little round buttons make a lovely detailed finish at the back of the neck and at the sleeves.
The dress itself is a bold lace in a gentle A-line cut with long sleeves and it falls to just above the knees in classic sixties style.

From the poverty and angst of late-seventies Manchester, England came Joy Division, new wave pioneers who hit the scene and, in just a few years, changed the history of British music forever.
Front man Ian Curtis, known for his sad monotone, strange dancing, and anti-stage presence, suffered from epileptic seizures that interfered with his life and eventually his live performances. He grew ill and depressed, and finally took his own life in 1980 at the age of 23. Two months later, the album Closer was released posthumously, containing the band's hit single "Love Will Tear Us Apart".
The remaining members of Joy Division went on to form New Order and enjoyed many more successful singles throughout the 80s. (To see an excellent and beautifully-made film about the Ian and Joy Division, check out Control)
