Yo! We haven't posted any news in here aside from news of fabulous new product that we have received and continue to receive daily! Well, gang.....we finally did the little update we've been waiting for months & months now to do! We hope you like the new re-design of the site. We've been toying with the idea for a different motif / figure or something (anything) to put in place of our prior "what's hot box" girl and the Babygirl Face.

What would we use? Whatever it was, it had to be perfect. It had to make you smile. It had to be dreamy and eye-catching and look simply smashing with the colours of our site.

We've spent umteen trillion hours on this over the past 7 months now and finally, just last week, the heavens looked kindly upon us and brought forth to us the ever-so-ravishing Bernie Dexter!

It's Halloween in the Summertime!

Halloween in the Summertime! Well, for those of you that don’t know us yet, Halloween is our favorite holiday! Why? Because you get to try on and play with all manner of personae on Halloween and that makes for good times in our book! We think every day should be Halloween. Everyday you should be able to be who you want, wear what you want, and do whatever it is you want – as long as you don’t hurt anyone. Remember “All of Life’s a Stage!”

Stop Staring Clothing: High Waisted 1950's Allie's Jeans

These Super Scrumptious Stop Staring Clothing 1950's Allie's Jeans are named after the designer from Stop Staring Clothing, who's nickname is Allie.

Think peddle pushers from the 50's but minus the peg-leg style fit. A simply fabulous pair of 1950's era high waisted capri jeans!

These Rockabilly Style Jeans have Exposed tan stitching with a capital cursive "S" on the back of each back pocket. Not every day calls for a vintage style or retro style dress, n'est ce pas? Sometimes you just want to kick back in your comfy-ass jeans.

These jeans are very comfortable with just the right combination of stretch and structure, so go ahead and get-ya some!

What's in a name?

What's with the name, you ask? A fair question. Most people think we are a specialty boutique for children and babies' apparel and accessories due to the name. Well it all started with the owner's husband, Kevin, power lounging on the sofa watching hours and hours of BET (black entertainment television) and hearing entirely too many R & B and rap singers and entertainers refer to their girlfriends, lovers, and wives as "babygirl". As a result it soon became an affectionate nickname for Tatyana, the owner.

When she started the site, four years ago in 2002, the url was http://www.babygirl-inc.com. Tatyana thought it was cute at the time because she thought the name kind of conjured this contrast of qualities - on the one hand, innocence and dependence, and on the other hand - independence and ambition. (think of a yin yang symbol and you get the idea) But, unfortunately all the urls without the hyphen were taken and usually led to porn sites. So, she settled for the hyphen.

Over time, however, it was observed that people tended to get tripped up over the hyphen and had a hard time finding the site on the first try. So, when the site underwent a major redesign a year ago, the url was changed to babygirlboutique.com so that people could more easily remember it.

Something was lost in the conversion of the names that we will hopefully regain in yet another upgrade/overhaul in the future. Tatyana and Leah, also known as Q14, her trusty web mistress and best friend, are almost in the production stages of their own signature line. If and when we ever get it off the ground, you will, at that time, no doubt see the name change for last time.

For those of you that have read this far, here's a little bit of insider info - the owner has an uncontrollable gag reflex when people call ger "babygirl" now. Call her bgb, or babyg, (she rather likes the latter) but PLEASE do not call her "babygirl". It's like if someone called you "pookiekins" 5,000,000 times, you would be ready to strangle them, right? Well, she has a similar reaction. lol. The following is a pic of Tatyana & Kevin (taken about a year ago)
